Panasonic suspends the firmware updates for DMC-LX3
The availability of the updates for the latest digital compact camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 has been suspended for the time being. The previous version 2.0 was basically meant for bringing in a host of various other additional functions and other useful features to the camera. Most of these features were meant for improving the quality and performance of this 14 month old camera. The company announced that the new revised updates will be made available to its users by around October 20th.
Panasonic UK made an announcement regarding the unavailability of the updates which mentioned, “The download for the firmware update program to Ver.2.0 has been temporarily suspended, in order to make sure the reliability of the firmware, more specifically in case of the use of some newly added functions on Custom shooting mode. The download is expected to be available back again around the 20th Oct.
For the users who have already updated LX3 to Ver.2.0
The camera which has been already updated to Ver.2.0, can be used without any problem after the reset of the camera by selecting the [RESET] in Setup menu. Please note that all settings except the clock setting will be reset to the initial settings. To keep the current settings, please make sure to write down the settings on a note in advance to reset the settings.”
The main idea was to adopt new innovative ideas and algorithms that now make it very much possible to smoothly speed the camera’s AF time by about .20% to that of .50 sec. as an addition to this, the algorithms will also add up the 1:1 ratio of the recording mode to the already present conventional mode of 3:2, 4:3, and also 16:9.
The camera will now also have a white balance bracket shot added as its feature. Moreover, the camera will also have a new scene mode, “High Dynamic” added to its scene mode that will help out in capturing any scene with a normal or moderate exposure to light despite of the dark and bright regions in the scene. These advancements of the new version of the firmware thus make the camera a sure attraction for all photography lovers. This new firmware was finally released worldwide on the September 28th, 2009.
