Camera rangefinder

If you ask a person who has used a camera forty years ago, he will tell you everything about the camera rangefinder. Those were the days that photography was still in the infant age.

In the fifties it was the twin lens reflex camera, which was dominating the camera market. Rollyflex was the camera in demand, which used the film rolls of 120mm format. These photography rangefinder cameras have two lenses. With the first lens you can view the subject and with the other you take the photograph.

As these bulky cameras were not for the liking of many, the camera manufacturers researched to make the camera smaller. They came out with a solution, which was the rangefinder camera. Rangefinder camera had only one lens but it had a mechanism to focus the subject. In this camera a range finder was incorporated to eliminate the need of the second lens of the twin lens reflex camera. The range finder was a mechanism to show two superimposed images in the view finder. To do the focusing the photographer had to look trough the view finder and align the two images. The camera rangefinder was able to make a good focus. As a result these rangefinder cameras were able to produce good quality photographs.

When digital photography came into the scene the camera rangefinder was improved to make it digital. Digital camera is equipped with a digital rangefinder. Digital rangefinder does the focusing using digital imaging technology. All modern digital cameras are equipped with this technology. Cameras equipped with digital view finders are able to take crystal clear pictures as this is a highly advanced technology. Photography, the once expensive hobby has become one of the cheapest hobbies. Thanks to digital technology, the present generation is able to enjoy photography without worrying about expenses.
