Pregnancy pics of soon-to-be parents can have their meaning enhanced with special props and poses. For pictures of mothers-to-be, you want to be sure to emphasize the fact that something is indeed different-thus, pregnancy pics of woman’s back is probably not the best shot you can set up.

Maternity portraiture is the one of the newest & largest business trends that photography has seen in ages. It all started with that Demi Moore (photographer Annie Lei Ovitz) cover in Vanity Fair in 1991 & it has grown tremendously with new creativity and techniques. There are a growing number of maternity photographer’s studios now focusing on maternity photography.

Be comfortable! Although maternity portraits are best to be taken within a month of your due date (the closer to the due date the better) and that time period is probably a uncomfortable moment in time its best to understand your body, know what positions are more comfortable than others & be open to sharing that with your pregnancy photographers.

As a mother’s rounded belly is the most noticeable sign of her pregnancy, you should take a few pregnant belly photos that show off the curve of her tummy. It can be beautiful, especially when you have powerful backgrounds, such as the beach or a sunset. Even if you don’t use the shadow effect of having a pregnant woman appear black against the background, you should still consider taking most of your pictures from the side.

Many women are not sure what to expect during a maternity photo shoot, but many leave feeling like they have spent a few fun hours being pampered and feeling beautiful. With the body changes that are common during pregnancy, many women are not sure what to wear to a maternity photo session. Usually keeping it simple and subtle makes for the best poses and photos.

Pregnancy takes the greater part of a year, and women may want to wait until the third trimester before planning maternity portraits. That way, the pregnancy photographers is sure to capture the fullness of a woman’s pregnant belly photos. Taking the portraits too soon may not offer you the results you wanted.

Finally, Have Fun This is a truly special and unique time in your life; let it be your first child or your tenth. Enjoy this moment and include the people that you want to be apart of this moment. Friends, children, your parents etc. try new things and make sure you trust your photographer and make sure it’s your story that is being told through these photographs.
